It was raining but calm before dawn on this west coast winter morning. I huddled under my umbrella with camera and tripod in hand. No one else was around. I felt that a long exposure would make the ocean and clouds seem almost silky so I attached a super dark filter and set the exposure for 4 minutes. I held the umbrella just above the camera to keep the lens dry. Not so lucky for me but I was pleased with the image that resulted.
